COPF to Review Treasury Cyber Theft Today (08)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Committee on Public Finance is scheduled to meet at 3.00 p.m today.

The meeting will be held at the Parliamentary Complex under the chairmanship of MP Harsha de Silva.

Discussions will be focused on the alleged theft of US$2.5 million from the Treasury by cybercriminals.

The Treasury is also scheduled to submit a report on the incident to the Committee on Public Finance today.

The submission follows recommendations made during a previous meeting of the Committee.

During the Committee's meeting on the 30th of May, Treasury and Finance Ministry Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma was summoned to provide statements regarding the incident.
