Johnston Appears Before Police in Vehicle Probe

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Minister Johnston Fernando appeared before the Illegal Assets Investigation Division today (2) to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing probe into a vehicle transaction.

The statement was recorded as part of an investigation related to the alleged provision of a vehicle on a rental basis to an individual identified as Sampath Manamperi.

Police stated that the former minister had initially been summoned to appear before the Illegal Assets Investigation Division on the 26th of last month. However, on that occasion, he had requested an alternative date to provide his statement.

Accordingly, Johnston Fernando presented himself before the division today, complying with the revised summons, police confirmed.
