COLOMBO (News 1st);  WhatsApp has announced the launch of “Incognito Chat with Meta AI,” a new feature designed to provide users with a completely private way to interact with artificial intelligence.

Built on Meta’s Private Processing technology, the feature ensures that conversations remain fully confidential.

According to WhatsApp, Incognito Chat creates a private, temporary conversation visible only to the user, with messages that are not saved and disappear by default.

WhatsApp emphasized that no one, including the company itself or parent firm Meta, can access or read these conversations. Messages are processed within a secure environment that remains inaccessible even to Meta, marking a significant step in extending privacy protections to AI interactions.

The company noted that as AI becomes increasingly central to how people seek information and ask important questions, many interactions involve sensitive data, including personal, financial, health, or work-related details.

Reflecting on its earlier introduction of end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp said this new feature extends the same level of privacy to conversations with Meta AI. While other platforms offer incognito-style modes, the company stated that they can still access user inputs and outputs, unlike WhatsApp’s new system.

The feature is part of a broader effort to deliver AI capabilities with strong privacy safeguards at a global scale. WhatsApp said Incognito Chat allows users to explore ideas and ask questions freely without concern over visibility or data retention.

Looking ahead, the platform plans to introduce “Side Chat” with Meta AI, also protected by Private Processing. This feature will provide private assistance within existing chats, using contextual information without disrupting ongoing conversations.

Incognito Chat with Meta AI is set to roll out on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app over the coming months, as part of the company’s continuing push to enhance user privacy.
