COLOMBO (News 1st); Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Belarus from May 12 to May 15, 2026, at the invitation of Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov.
The visit marks a significant moment in bilateral relations, coming a year after Sri Lanka and Belarus commemorated the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
During his stay in Minsk, Minister Herath is scheduled to call on President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and hold bilateral discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. He is also due to meet the Ministers of Education and Health of Belarus.
Several memoranda of understanding and agreements across multiple sectors are expected to be signed between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Belarus during the visit.
While in Minsk, Minister Herath will address a business and tourism roundtable organised by the National Export Centre of Belarus. He is also scheduled to meet Sri Lankan students currently studying in Belarus.
