Human Rights Commission Summons Officials Over Estate Workers’ Wages

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Human Rights Commission has summoned all officials responsible for plantation workers, including those from the Ministry of Plantation Industries and the Ministry of Labour.

Director General of the Human Rights Commission, Nimal Punchihewa, stated that several complaints have been received from civil society organizations representing the Malayagam community and tea estate workers.

The complaints allege that estate workers are not properly receiving the daily wage that was previously announced by the government.
