Indonesian Navy Training Ship KRI Bima Suci Arrives

COLOMBO (News 1st) The Indonesian Navy sailing ship KRI Bima Suci - 945 arrived at the Port of Colombo on 15 April 2026 on a goodwill visit, marking a significant naval engagement between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

The visiting vessel was accorded a warm welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in keeping with long-standing naval traditions. The arrival forms a key highlight of the ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail (APCS) 2026 programme, which brings together a diverse group of naval cadets from 26 different countries, sailing alongside their Indonesian counterparts.

The ship is commanded by Commander Sugeng Hariyanto. During its stay in Sri Lanka, Officer Under-Trainees of the Sri Lanka Navy are expected to participate in a range of programmes conducted aboard the vessel, while Sri Lankan naval personnel will also observe the ship’s operational functions as part of professional knowledge-sharing activities.

In addition to official engagements, the crew of KRI Bima Suci is scheduled to take part in several programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy aimed at fostering camaraderie and strengthening cooperation between the two navies. The crew will also visit a number of tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, providing opportunities for cultural exchange during the goodwill visit
