New Year Festivals: Five-Day Window to Obtain Electricity on Payment Basis

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The government announced that an opportunity has been provided to organizers of Avurudu Celebrations to obtain electricity for a period of five days on a payment basis. 

This was announced by Minister Vijitha Herath during today's cabinet briefing. 

Accordingly, this facility will be available from April 15th to April 19th. 

The minister emphasized that currently the government has announced various steps to preserve energy amidst the ongoing global energy crisis. 

However this opportunity has been given as it is the festival season and to keep the energy consumption under control during the month of April.
