COLOMBO (News 1st) The Ceylon Petroleum Distributors’ Association has launched a silent protest in opposition to the reduction of their profit and commission percentages.
Shantha Silva, Executive Committee Director of the association, stated that the protest is scheduled to take place this morning in front of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) headquarters.
According to Shantha Silva, the Executive Director of the Association, the percentage has been reduced from 3% to 1.5%. However the profit and commission percentage of 6% for private distributors has not been changed.
Additionally, The executive director also commented that during the 2022 fuel crisis, the Odd-Even fuel rationing system was not in place when the QR code was introduced for fuel rationing, however according to Shantha Silva the Executive Committee Director of the Association, customers are facing significant difficulties with both QR code and Odd-Even Number systems currently in place for fuel rationing.
In response to inquiries regarding the dispute on commission charges the Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Mayura Neththikumarage, noted that a legal process regarding this matter is underway.
He further stated that the relevant facts and updates will be reported to the court today.
