Fuel And Electricity Crisis: Govt Issues New Guidelines for Saving Fuel and Electricity

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Commissioner General of Essential Services has issued a set of guidelines to all authorities, including secretaries of ministries, regarding the prudent use of fuel and electricity.

The guidelines state that all air conditioning units in government and statutory institutions must be turned off by 3:00 PM.

Private sector offices are also urged to follow the same practice.

After 8:00 PM, all electric billboards and screens used for advertising at various locations must be switched off.

Streetlights managed by local authorities should be turned off between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM using suitable measures.

For large-scale events and musical performances held outdoors, organizers are instructed to conduct these activities without drawing electricity from the national grid.
