COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding the prevailing high temperatures, advising the public to pay special attention to the elderly and those with illnesses.
Meril Mendis, Director of Weather Forecasting & Disaster Management said these prevailing extreme weather conditions are likely to persist until the end of May.
The "Caution" level heat advisory applies to the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Eastern, North Western, Northern, and North Central and the Monaragala District where the heat index which is the temperature felt on the human body remains at a level requiring careful attention.
The Department of Meteorology urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period.
