Over 200 Cases on Fraudulent QR Codes Under Investigation

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Digital Economy has announced that investigations are underway regarding more than 200 cases involving fraudulent QR codes.

Sumudu Rathnayaka, advisor to the Ministry, said that all relevant information involving these cases has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and active investigations are being carried out based on this data.

Ratnayake noted that over 6.2 million individuals have successfully generated their QR codes to date, and the fuel distribution process is currently proceeding effectively.
