COLOMBO (News 1st) - Three people have died in road accidents across different areas of the country.
Police said a woman died after being struck by a lorry in the Thudawa area along the Matara-Hakmana Road.
Her identity has not yet been revealed, and the lorry driver has been arrested.
In another incident, two motorcycles collided in front of the Chilaw Cemetery along the Chilaw-Colombo main road, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old woman.
Police said the accident occurred when one of the riders was thrown from a motorcycle and crushed by a lorry traveling in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile, a cab veered off the road at the junction where Mahaduwa Mawatha meets the Matara-Akuressa main road and crashed into a lottery booth, killing the lottery vendor, an 80-year-old resident of Thelijjawila.
