Vehicle Number Plate Issuance To Resume Within Two Months After 10-Month Halt

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Motor Traffic states that the issuance of vehicle number plates will commence within the next two months.

Its Commissioner General, Kamal Amerasinghe, said that the agreement was signed yesterday with the company to which the contract was awarded.

The issuance of vehicle number plates had been halted for about the past 10 months.

This was due to the process of entering into an agreement with a new company.

During the past 10 months, it was not possible to issue number plates for over 400,000 vehicles.

The Commissioner General stated that the issuance of number plates for those vehicles will also commence promptly.

He said that these vehicle number plates will be issued under several colors to make identification easier.
