COLOMBO (News 1st): Foreign nationals who wish to live and work remotely from Sri Lanka can now apply for the Digital Nomad Visa (DNV).
Allowing Digital Nomad Visas in the country aims to position Sri Lanka as a preferred long-stay digital destination, contributing to the national economy through extended stays, tourism expenditure, and global knowledge exchange.
Eligible applicants include foreign nationals who are 18 years of age or above.
Spouses and dependents of the main applicant are eligible to apply.
Under the main eligibility criteria, applicants must be 18 years or older and engaged in remote employment, freelancing, or own a business that serves clients outside Sri Lanka.
A minimum monthly income remittance of USD 2,000 for the main applicant is required to be eligible, and if the dependent count exceeds two, an additional USD 500 should be remitted monthly for each dependent.
The visa is issued with a validity period of one year, and a fee of USD 500 must be paid at the point of application.
