COLOMBO (News 1st); Italy stormed to a historic 10‑wicket victory over Nepal in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group C match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, completing a flawless chase powered entirely by the Mosca brothers, who produced a record‑breaking opening stand.
Nepal, sent in to bat, were dismissed for 123 in 19.3 overs, with Italy’s bowlers dominating throughout. Crishan Kalugamage starred with 3 for 18, while Ben Manenti delivered a miserly spell of 2 for 9 in four overs.
Nepal’s innings lost wickets at regular intervals, despite contributions from Rohit Paudel (23 off 14), Aasif Sheikh (20 off 20) and Aarif Sheikh (27 off 24). Their collapse began early at 8/1, then 49/2, and they never recovered, losing their final seven wickets for just 74 runs.
Italy’s reply was nothing short of ruthless. Openers Justin Mosca and Anthony Mosca chased down the target of 124 in just 12.4 overs, finishing on 124 for 0, giving Italy victory with 44 balls to spare.
Justin Mosca smashed 60 off 44 balls, while Anthony Mosca blasted 62 off 32, hitting six sixes and three fours, becoming Italy’s highest scorer in a Men’s T20 World Cup innings.
Their unbroken 123‑run partnership is now the highest for any wicket for Italy in Men’s T20 World Cup history.
