COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Transport Board has begun deploying female bus conductors for its bus fleet starting today (6).
Twenty newly recruited female conductors were presented with their appointment letters at the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre today.
The event took place with the participation of Deputy Minister of Mass Media, Dr. Kaushalya Ariyaratne.
An official uniform has also been introduced for the newly appointed female conductors.
The new recruits will be assigned to SLTB buses operating on the Makumbura–Kadawatha expressway route.
In the future, based on operational needs, these female conductors will also be deployed on buses used for transporting schoolchildren.
