COLOMBO (News1st): Six officers from the Gampaha Division Crimes Investigation Bureau were arrested over a complaint lodged over an alleged assault.

Wootler, said that the arrests were made following a complaint lodged by a Catholic priest regarding the alleged assault.
The incident occurred last night when officers had ordered a motorcyclist travelling along the Kirindiwita toward Udugampola to halt the vehicle.
The officers reportedly chased the motorcycle when the motocyclist allegedly ignored the order to halt.
After the motocyclist failing to heed police orders, the officers had persued and arrested him.
A heated argument broke out between the two parties during the arrest.
The 33 year old motorcyclist who has been identified as a priest subsequently admitted himself to the Negombo Hospital, claiming that the police officers had assaulted him.
Following an investigation into the complaint, the six police officers suspected of involvement in the incident were taken into custody.
Police investigations are underway under the direction of an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
