COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Friday (23) distanced himself from ongoing speculation regarding the position of the Attorney General, stating clearly that he is not in a position to comment on matters concerning the current administration.
Responding to questions from journalists upon his arrival in Kandy, Wickremesinghe rejected claims that he had any knowledge of moves to remove the Attorney General.
When asked, “Sir, there are reports that the government intends to remove the Attorney General,” the former President replied:
“I don’t know anything about that. I am no longer part of the government. I am not in politics anymore.”
The former President made these remarks while visiting Kandy, where he paid courtesy calls on the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwathu and Asgiriya Chapters of the Siam Sect.
