Ex-TRCSL DG Arrested For Assets-Beyond-Income

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Anusha Pelpita, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The Commission stated that the arrest was carried out in connection with an ongoing investigation initiated based on information received.

According to the Bribery Commission, investigations had been conducted into assets allegedly accumulated by the suspect within a specific period exceeding his declared income. 

Based on these findings, it was alleged that the suspect had amassed substantial assets and properties disproportionate to his lawful income during the relevant period.

The Commission further stated that the suspect was taken into custody by its officers at 9.30 a.m. today, on charges related to the accumulation of assets beyond lawful earnings.

The suspect who was arrested is due to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
