COLOMBO (News 1st); Chief Government Whip Bimal Rathnayake told Parliament today that the House is prepared to allocate two full sitting days to debate the Opposition‑submitted No‑Confidence Motion (NCM) against Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

The announcement was made during today’s parliamentary session, where the Chief Organizer of the Opposition, Gayanta Karunathilaka, confirmed that the motion would be presented at an appropriate and strategically selected time.

According to the Opposition, the NCM was triggered by what they describe as:

Inappropriate content included in recent education reforms
Numerous factual inaccuracies found within the new subject materials
The minister’s alleged failure to take timely corrective action despite concerns raised

The motion, which directly challenges Minister Amarasuriya’s handling of the education reforms, was formally signed by the Opposition on the 7th, under the leadership of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
