Suspect Arrested in Kalubowila with Foreign-Manufactured Firearm

COLOMBO (News1st): A suspect has been arrested on Sri Wimalasara Road, Kalubowila, in possession of a 12-bore firearm which was manufactured abroad and repaired locally.

The arrest was made during a raid carried out by officers of the Police Special Task Force of the Kalubowila Camp, based on a tip off received. 

The suspect is a 26 years old resident of the Sri Wimalasara Road, Kalubowila, Dehiwala.

Investigations revealed that the suspect has reportedly maintained ties with the organized crime members "Badovita Asanka" and "Sendo."

Police said that the firearm was in working condition at the time of seizure. 

Police suspect that the firearm was prepared to be committed for a crime. 

The suspect was handed over to the Kohuwala Police Station for further investigations.
