G.C.E. A/L Exams to Resume Tomorrow After Cyclone Ditwah; Temporary IDs Allowed for Students

COLOMBO (News 1st) -The remaining subjects of the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination, which were postponed due to Cyclone Ditwah, will resume tomorrow.

Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage stated that all preparations have been completed for this. 

Accordingly, the exams are scheduled to be held tomorrow at 2,086 centers across the country.

Commissioner General of Examinations, Indika Kumari Liyanage said that The postponed exams for the next seven days are scheduled from January 12 to 20, 2026. 

The Department of Examinations has issued a revised timetable for these exams. 

The Commissioner General of Examinations says that they may use a temporary ID. 

For school candidates, this involves submitting two passport-sized photographs certified by the school principal and the Zonal Education Director. 

Private candidates can have two passport-sized photographs certified by the Grama Niladhari and the District Secretary to use as a temporary identity document to enter the exam hall. 

She added that For students from disaster-affected areas who may not have their school uniforms, the authorities have allowed them to appear for exams in suitable clothing.-

Meanwhile, the General Information Technology examination for Grade 12 Advanced Level students was held today at 1,665 exam centers across the country.
