State Pharmaceuticals to Introduce 10 New Drugs This Year

COLOMBO (News1st): The State Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Corporation has announced plans to introduce 10 new medicines to the market this year. 

The production target for the year is set at 4,000 million tablets and capsules.

Dr. Jayantha Wijayabandara, Chairman of the SPMC, noted that the corporation currently manufactures 70 types of medicines.

A two-story pharmaceutical warehouse complex currently under construction near the SPMC premises in Ratmalana is scheduled to open in March.

Plans are also underway to construct a pharmaceutical storage complex along with a manufacturing and packaging facility in Millewa, Horana.

The Chairman highlighted that in the year 2025, the SPMC achieved its highest production volume in history, manufacturing 3,625 million tablets and capsules. 

Additionally, five new types of drugs were successfully introduced during the same year.
