Sri Lanka Breaks Tourism Record: 2,333,797 Visitors and Counting!

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka has shattered its previous tourism milestone today, welcoming the highest number of international visitors since 2018. The record-breaking moment came as an Indian national from Thiruvananthapuram landed at Bandaranaike International Airport aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL 162.

With this arrival, the total number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka in 2025 has reached 2,333,797, surpassing the previous record of 2,333,796 set in 2018.

Tourism authorities hailed the achievement as a significant boost for the island’s travel industry, signaling strong recovery and growth.

Sri Lanka’s diverse attractions—from golden beaches and cultural heritage sites to wildlife safaris and mountain retreats—continue to draw travelers from across the globe. The festive season surge has played a key role in pushing numbers beyond expectations.

Officials at Katunayake Airport marked the occasion with warm greetings for the family, celebrating a new chapter in Sri Lanka’s tourism success story.
