Gang Rivalry Behind Kohuwala Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); A clash between organized crime groups is suspected to have triggered a shooting incident in Kohuwala Monday (22) night, according to police sources.

Investigators revealed that the injured individual has known connections to criminal gangs and is allegedly involved in drug trafficking.

Police further confirmed that the 25-year-old victim is currently facing court proceedings related to narcotics charges. 

The attack occurred around 8:30 PM, when the victim was traveling in a three-wheeler through Kohuwala. 

Two assailants on a motorcycle reportedly opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained serious injuries and is now receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to track down the suspects and are probing links to organized crime networks.
