Warning Shots Fired as Prison Officers Thwart Galle Jailbreak

COLOMBO (News 1st); An audacious attempt by two inmates to escape from Galle Prison was thwarted by alert prison officers, according to the Department of Prisons.

Officials revealed that the prisoners were attempting to break free when officers intervened, firing warning shots into the air to intimidate and regain control of the situation. 

The swift response ensured that both inmates were subdued and returned to custody without further incident.

The Department of Prisons confirmed that a special investigation has been launched into the escape attempt.
