COLOMBO (News 1st); A Pakistan Air Force C-130 aircraft departed early this (3) morning carrying a 47-member search and rescue team and 6.5 tons of essential equipment to support humanitarian operations in flood-hit areas in Sri Lanka.

This mission follows a series of relief measures, including the dispatch of 200 tons of emergency supplies via sea shipment and arrangements for additional consignments through Sri Lankan Airlines flights between Colombo and Lahore.

Relief items include family tents, blankets, life jackets, inflatable boats, de-watering pumps, lamps, mosquito nets, infant dry milk, ready-to-eat food, and essential medicines.

Pakistan Navy ships and helicopters are already engaged in relief operations in Sri Lanka.

In response to a special request from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Pakistan is also sending temporary bridges from the Pakistan Army to restore connectivity in affected regions.
