COLOMBO (News 1st); Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha visited Sedawatta, near Colombo, to review the ongoing rescue operations carried out by India’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in flood-affected areas.
The NDRF teams are conducting door-to-door evacuations and distributing essential relief supplies to inundated communities around Nadeegama, located on the banks of the Kelani River.
During the visit, the High Commissioner interacted with local residents and assessed the situation firsthand.
Some areas remain submerged under 6 to 8 feet of water, making access extremely challenging.
The NDRF’s efforts are critical in ensuring timely evacuation and relief for families trapped in these conditions.
