Colombo (News 1st): The Department of Irrigation has issued an URGENT WARNING to residents living in low-lying areas along the Kelani River and Maha Oya. 

Heavy rainfall has caused water levels to rise, posing a significant threat to life and property.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED:

- Residents in affected areas MUST EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY

- Move to designated safe zones or higher ground

- Follow instructions from authorities and emergency services
