COLOMBO (News 1st); Batticaloa Police have arrested three individuals accused of removing two archaeological name boards in the Kokkadicholai area.

The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate today.

Police said operations are continuing to apprehend others involved in similar incidents in Kadiraveli and Pankudaveli, where three boards and one board respectively were dismantled.

Authorities have already recovered one signboard from Kadiraveli and another from Pankudaveli.

Meanwhile, the Valachchenai Magistrate Court yesterday ordered the Koralaipattu Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and four others to reinstall seven archaeological signboards that had been removed in the Koralaipattu area.

This directive came after police reported the matter to court.

Four suspects connected to that case were produced in court yesterday, while another had been arrested earlier.

Police confirmed that the seven removed boards were found within the premises of the Koralaipattu Pradeshiya Sabha.
