According to police, three archaeological signboards were removed in Kadiraveli, two signboards in Chenkaladi, and one signboard in Pankudaweli.

Police have recovered one signboard from Kadiraveli and one from Pankudaweli.

However, the suspects involved in these incidents have not yet been identified.

Meanwhile, the Valachchenai Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered the Koralaipattu Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman and four others to reinstall seven archaeological signboards that had been taken down in Koralaipattu, Batticaloa.

The order was issued after police presented facts regarding the incident to the court.

Four suspects were produced before the court yesterday, while another suspect had been arrested earlier.

Police informed the court that the seven removed archaeological signboards had been found within the Koralaipattu Pradeshiya Sabha premises and taken into custody.
