Low-Pressure Area Forms East of Sri Lanka; Heavy Rain Expected

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology says The low-level atmospheric disturbance to the East of the island can be developed in to a low pressure system. 

Due to this system, heavy rainfall of about 100 mm may occur in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

Other parts of the island can expect rainfall of approximately 50 mm.

Temporarily strong winds are expected during thundershowers.

The Department of Meteorology advised the public to take necessary steps to minimize damages caused by lightning and thundershowers.
