Player Dies After Collision in Friendly Cricket Match

COLOMBO (News 1st); A light-hearted cricket match held yesterday (9) in Aluthapola, Minuwangoda, ended in heartbreak when a collision between two players during play led to the death of one participant.

According to police reports, the incident occurred as both players attempted to catch a ball, colliding in a moment of misjudged coordination. 

One of the players sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Minuwangoda Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he tragically passed away while receiving care.

The deceased has been identified as a 41-year-old resident of Katuwellagama. 

Minuwangoda Police have launched a full investigation into the incident.
