Central Bank Appoints Two New Deputy Governors

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has appointed Dr. C. Amarasekara and K. G. P. Sirikumara as Deputy Governors, effective 24 October 2025 and 3 November 2025, respectively, following recommendations by the Governing Board and approval by the Finance Minister.

Dr. Amarasekara, with over 22 years of service at the Central Bank, previously served as Assistant Governor overseeing Economic Research, Statistics, Market Operations, and Macroprudential Surveillance. 

He also served as Alternate Executive Director at the IMF for Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. Dr. Amarasekara is also an Attorney-at-Law.

Attorney-at-Law K G P Sirikumara has served the Central Bank for more than 25 years, previously overseeing Currency Management, Public Debt Management, Deposit Insurance, and other corporate services as Assistant Governor. 

He has played a key role in banking law reforms, financial sector governance, and anti-money laundering initiatives.
