COLOMBO (News 1st); The Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered that two suspects, Piyal Manamperi and Charith Madusanka, who are currently in remand custody on charges of possessing a stock of chemicals used to manufacture Crystal Methamphetamine or “Ice” in Thalawa, Middeniya, be further remanded.
The case was taken up before Magistrate Malsha Kodituwakku yesterday afternoon.
During the hearing, an officer from the Western Province North Crimes Investigation Unit presented facts to the court, noting that further investigations into the suspects currently held in remand are ongoing.
Accordingly, the officer requested the court to extend their remand period.
Attorney Chamoth Kalhara appeared on behalf of the second suspect, Sampath Manamperi, and presented facts to the court.
After considering all submissions, the Magistrate ordered that Piyal Manamperi and Charith Madusanka be further remanded until October 29.
The hearing was conducted via Skype, with the suspects not appearing before the court physically.
