Over 2,000 Fatal Road Accidents Reported Across the Country This Year

COLOMBO (News 1st)  - The Police report that 2,039 fatal road accidents have occurred across the country so far this year.

Assistant Police Spokesperson ASP Frederick Wootler stated that 2,170 people have died as a result of these accidents.

Our News 1st correspondent reports that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in front of the Wellawaya main bus station.

The vehicle involved in the incident has not yet been identified.

The deceased has been identified as a 62-year-old resident of the area.
