Construction Site Disaster: 3 Dead in Mawanella

COLOMBO (News 1st); The death toll from the tragic landslide in the Aluthnuwara area of Mawanella has risen to three, following the recovery of another body buried under the collapsed earth embankment. 

Police confirmed that one individual remains hospitalized with injuries sustained during the incident.

The landslide occurred near a residential construction site, where three workers were engaged in building activities when a mass of earth suddenly gave way, burying them beneath tons of debris. 

Rescue operations, led by local police and supported by residents, began immediately and have continued under challenging conditions.
