Colpetty Gun Bust: T56 Rifle and 30 Rounds Found

Colombo (News 1st); Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the discovery of a T56 assault rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition in Colpetty.

Police Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police F. U. Wootler stated that two individuals traveling on a motorcycle in the Alfred area of Colpetty were stopped for inspection last night under suspicious circumstances. Upon being approached, both suspects fled the scene.

One of the suspects was later apprehended after attempting to hide from police. 

Authorities recovered a T56 rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The second suspect was arrested at a hotel in the Maligawatta area. Police also detained three other individuals who were with him at the time.

Investigations have revealed that one of the suspects had previously acted as a motorcycle getaway driver for hired gunmen involved in contract killings.

The suspects are currently in custody as further investigations continue.
