2026 Budget Bill Cleared for Gazette

COLOMBO (News 1st); The draft Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2026 is set to be published in the Government Gazette, following clearance from the Attorney General and approval by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The Cabinet granted its initial approval for the preparation of the bill during its meeting held on July 1, 2025. The draft was subsequently prepared by the Legislative Draftsman and reviewed by the Attorney General, who has now issued formal clearance.

The Cabinet has also endorsed the proposal presented by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization, and National Policies, to submit the gazetted bill to Parliament for approval.
