Shootings In Grandpass And Panchikawatte: One Dead

COLOMBO(News 1st); One person has died and another has been injured in two separate shootings in Grandpass and Panchikawatte.

Police said a young man was killed in a shooting near the Mahawatte Clock Tower in Grandpass.

Two unknown men on a motorcycle opened fire in the area around 11:30 p.m. and then escaped.

The young man, who was seriously injured, died after being taken to the National Hospital.

The victim was a 26-year-old from Kelaniya.

Police believe a revolver was used in the attack.

The reason for the shooting is still unknown.

Grandpass Police are investigating and searching for the suspects.

Meanwhile, another person was injured in a shooting in Panchikawatte this morning.

According to police, two men on a motorcycle shot the victim with a revolver and fled.

The injured person has been admitted to the National Hospital for treatment.
