COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has announced that 198,235 tourists visited the country during August.
This marks a 20.4% increase compared to tourist arrivals recorded in August last year.
According to the latest data released by the SLTDA, India remained the leading source market, with 46,473 arrivals in August, accounting for 23.4% of total visitors.
The United Kingdom followed with 19,764 arrivals, while Germany recorded 12,500, China 12,294, and France 10,495.
Cumulative figures show that between January 1 and August 31, 2025, Sri Lanka welcomed 1,566,523 tourists.
Of this total, 325,595 visitors were from India, 151,141 from the United Kingdom, and 118,916 from Russia.
