Violent Attack Outside Wennappuwa Police Station Leaves One Dead

COLOMBO (News 1st); A man was killed in a brutal sword and gun attack carried out in close proximity to the Wennappuwa Police Station.

Police says the victim was ambushed by two assailants who arrived in a car, moments after he had left the station following the signing of a bail order at the High Court.

The attackers fatally stabbed him and also opened fire during the assault.

A second individual who sustained injuries in the incident and has been admitted to hospital.
