Kerala Cannabis Valued Over Rs. 27 million Seized

COLOMBO (News 1st); Separate search operations conducted by the Navy in Vankalai, Mannar and off Delft Island, Jaffna on 27th and 29th August 2025 resulted in the seizure of more than 121kg of Kerala cannabis.
A haul of 119.5kg of Kerala cannabis was found concealed in four sacks on 2 dinghies off Delft. Four suspects, along with the 2 dinghies, were taken into naval custody.
In a separate operation on 27 August, a suspect was arrested in Vankalai in possession of 2.3kg of Kerala cannabis.
The street value of the stock of Kerala cannabis seized in these operations is believed to exceed Rs. 27 million.
