Fatal Collision in Horana: Van Driver Arrested

COLOMBO (News 1st) - One person was killed and another injured in an accident that took place this morning near the hospital junction on the Horana–Aguruwatota road.

The accident happened when a van traveling from Horana towards Aguruwatota collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

The motorcycle rider died in the accident.

He was a 75-year-old resident of the Ballapitiya area in Horana.

The van driver has been arrested in connection with the accident.

Meanwhile, a lorry carrying rice overturned in the Udubadana area of Welimada.

Police believe the accident was caused by a technical fault in the vehicle.

The incident happened last night, and no injuries were reported.
