COLOMBO (News 1st); A man was shot and killed early Thursday (31) morning in the Duwamodara area of Kosgoda.
According to police, two individuals arrived on a motorcycle around 6:00 AM and opened fire using a T-56 assault rifle before fleeing the scene.
The victim is reported to be the owner of a turtle conservation center in the area.
Initial investigations reveal that the man was asleep at home when one of the assailants approached from the seaside and fired through a window.
The deceased has been identified as Arun Mendis, a 23-year-old unmarried male.
Police recovered the suspected motorcycle used in the crime near the Athuruwella Bridge on the Galle-Colombo main road.
Kosgoda Police have launched a full investigation into the murder.
