COLOMBO (News 1st); The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bosong local government in the Republic of Korea, enabling Sri Lankan workers to engage in seasonal agricultural work under the E-8 visa category.
The decision follows Cabinet approvals granted on February 19 and July 1, 2025, to launch a pilot project aimed at facilitating Sri Lankan employment in South Korea’s agricultural sector.
The initiative targets short-term placements, allowing workers to stay for a maximum of eight months.
The MoU will enable Sri Lankan workers to be employed in agricultural villages in Bosong province, offering them the chance to earn a stable income while contributing to Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange inflow.
