Corruption Case Against Chandrani Bandara Returns to Court On July 28

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo High Court has scheduled the next hearing of the corruption case against former Minister Chandrani Bandara for July 28, following proceedings held before High Court Judge Sahan Mapa Bandara.

The case, filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, accuses Bandara of unlawfully appointing H.M. Chandrawansa as Project Director at the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs, and Dry Zone Development during her tenure under the previous Yahapalana government. 

She is also alleged to have illegally recruited several associates into various ministry positions, violating proper administrative procedures.

The case was officially filed on May 20, following the submission of indictments on May 6, after which Bandara was released on two personal bails of Rs.1 million each.

The court has directed investigators to submit relevant documentation by the next hearing date.
