Eight Killed in Road Accidents Within 24 Hours

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police say eight people have died in road accidents reported across the island within the past 24 hours.

Two fatalities were reported from the Udawala area on the Hasalaka–Hettipola road, when a motorcycle travelling from Hasalaka to Hettipola collided with the rear of a bicycle heading in the same direction. The deceased were aged 28 and 73, and residents of Barawardhana Oya and Hasalaka.

Meanwhile, six other deaths were reported from separate accidents from Mount Lavinia, Nagoda, Dambadeniya, Narammala, Mawathagama, and Pannala. The victims were aged 75, 87, 78, 65, 74, and 67 respectively.
