COLOMBO (News 1st); The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the appointment of a three-member committee to investigate alleged financial irregularities within the Central Cultural Fund (CCF) during the period from 2017 to 2020.

The decision follows concerns raised over the disbursement of financial assistance to religious institutions under the Fund’s purview.

The move was initiated following the 223rd Governing Council meeting of the CCF, held on May 17, 2025, where it was decided that a formal inquiry was necessary to examine the reported discrepancies.

The committee will be chaired by G.M.W. Pradeep Jayathilaka, a retired Supreme Court Judge.
