Bus Driver, Returnee Shot Dead in Chilling Middeniya Execution

COLOMBO (News 1st); The bodies of two young men were discovered in a forested area near Thorakolayaya, Middeniya, early this morning (25), following what police suspect to be a targeted double homicide.

According to police reports, the victims—aged 26 and 30—were residents of Embilipitiya.

Investigators believe they were brought to the location and executed during the early hours of the day. The killings were reportedly carried out using a 9mm pistol, and four empty bullet casings were recovered from the scene.

A motorcycle believed to belong to the victims was found near the bodies.

One of the deceased was identified as a bus driver, while the other had recently returned to Sri Lanka from overseas and was reportedly unemployed at the time of the incident.

Police have yet to determine a motive for the killings, and investigations are ongoing.
